Mass media

Today I am going to tell you about mass media. I will speak about the definition of mass media, types, the role of mass media in modern society, media influence. There are many different ways to get knowledge about our big world. It is traveling and going sightseeing, meeting interesting people, reading books, etc. But one of the best ways of getting new information is mass media. We live today in what has been characterized as a mass-mediated culture, a culture in which the mass media play a key role in both shaping and creating cultural perceptions. The mass media do not simply mirror society. They help to create the very world they purport to cover. The mass media have done and continue doing much to excite an interest in every aspect of the country's life. The mass media are the various ways by which information and news is given to large numbers of people, especially television, radio, Internet, newspapers and magazines. I think, that the mass media now play an important role in shaping our opinions.

What is a mass media? I want to quote  the term of mass media. I found this in the Oxford dictionary Mass media is communication that reaches and influences a large number of people.Mass media is a broad term under which includes ever thing or anything that conveys a message to the masses is included. From newspapers to books, from radios to televisions, form the mobile phones to ipods and to the internet, all are included in the category of mass media.

These days, there are already numerous types of Mass Media. I'll tell about three types of

Print Media: The print media includes newspapers, magazines, brochures, newsletters, books and even leaflets and pamphlets. Public speaking and event organizing can also be considered as a form of mass media.

Electronic Media: For many people, it is impossible to imagine a life without their television sets, be it the daily news dose or even the soap operas. This mass media includes television and radio. This category also includes electronic media like movies, CDs and DVDs as well as the new hottest electronic gadgets.

New-age Media: Internet has opened up several new opportunities for mass communication which include email, websites, blogging, Internet tv and many other mass media which are booming today. Those were the different types of Mass Media in this 21st century, the global generation era where digital globalization is taking place perpetually, and the forms of Mass Media is increasingly widespread and expectantly procreating.

I think, that T\the mass media plays a significant role in modern society. They bring about a general diffusion of knowledge about life in the world today, thus influencing many aspects of our social, political and economic patterns. Mass media has certain important functions1) inform (a teacher function)

2) surveillance (a watcher function)

3) service the economic system

4) hold society together (act as sort of a cultural glue)

5) entertain

6) act as a community forum (media equivalent of town hall meeting or group discussion)

7) set the agenda

8) service the political system

Media influence or media effects are used media studies, psychology, communication theory and sociology to refer to the theories about the ways in which mass media affect how their audiences think and behave. I think, that the newspapers are an incredible influence tool in society; they can easily turn on people emotions in favor or against an issue or something. This is because we as readers tend to believe everything that is written in the newspaper even do it might be the wrong information. They mislead information that goes to the public which immediately influences the public to. Television broadcasting has a large amount of control over the content society watches and the times in which it is viewed. This is a distinguishing feature of traditional media which New media have challenged by altering the participation habits of the public. The internet creates a space for more diverse political opinions, social and cultural viewpoints and a heightened level of consumer participation. There have been suggestions that allowing consumers to produce information through the internet will lead to an overload of information.

In conclusion, I want to say, that Mass media is an important part of our life. People from different walks of life have become nowadays listeners, readers, viewers. Reading newspapers and magazines, watching TV, listening to the news on the radio is our main means of getting information in all its variety. The mass media have done and continue doing much to excite an interest in every aspect of the country's life. The mass media are the various ways by which information and news is given to large numbers of people, especially television, radio, newspapers and magazines. The mass media now play an important role in shaping our opinions.
